Using Google AdWords?

I agree that popup ads are on their way out. But the keyword ads you can buy from Google and Overture/Yahoo are on their way in.

Have any of you bought traffic by bidding for keywords on Google or Overture, and how were the results?

    I use both. I highly recommend using this technology. It is very, very effective. The key is finding the right search words, and also finding ALL the negative search words so that you filter out the searches that have nothing to do with your business.

      I think what Geraldine said pretty much sums it up. Every time this topic comes up the answer is always the same, Google AdWords are good but you need to invest some time and effort to get any real benefits.

        I found the complete opposite. Google and Overture were nothing but rip offs, so I want to see your sites and see what you're doing right that I'm doing wrong.

          I don’t use AdWords but when the topic comes up the answer is always the same. It’s probably not a good form of advertising for smaller site’s as people often talk of monthly budgets of two or three thousands pounds (six thousand bucks!).

            If it's not a good form of advertising for small sites, then how can it be good for large sites?

              I’m no big business man but the way I see it exposure is what big businesses go for i.e. chuck a couple of mil down the pan just to get the name known although banner adds with a logo are perhaps better for this. They just want to get into your mind, that’s memory, fuckers.
