Re: how to get google to display your website on the first page when searched?
Sat, May 13, 2006 - 6:14 PMthere are tons of consulting services which will help you improve search results. basically, you pay them and they give you meta tags, instructions, advice, etc on how to get up to the first page. some even guarantee it for the right price. it is a lot of work though, so it may be more expensive than you're willing to pay.

Re: how to get google to display your website on the first page when searched?
Sat, May 13, 2006 - 2:43 PMThere are a lot of tricks, and the algorythm keeps changing. It comes from how many sites are linked to you, keywords, meta tags, marketing and good product. In short you cannot buy it you need to work for it.

Re: how to get google to display your website on the first page when searched?
Thu, May 25, 2006 - 7:34 AMThere are plenty of "tricks," some of which will get you banned from Google altogether.
If you're serious about your business, then be smart about improving your search engine rank. Don't just shell out a few hundred dollars to some spam email you get that promises top ranking on Google. You might as well flush your greenbacks down the toilet.
Find a skilled and reputable developer who has experience in SEO/SEM. For example, I have a friend here in S. FL who is a developer and who has studied SEO and the sites he develops rank highly for his clients. He knows how to properly code the sites, how to employ link backs, how to craft the right content, etc. When it's done well the payoff is a good solid ranking. He charges about $2-3K for an SEO optimized site. Is that a lot? I don't know - how much is your business worth? What are your goals for the site?
Just a few things to think about.

Re: how to get google to display your website on the first page when searched?
Thu, May 25, 2006 - 7:36 AMOh, one more thing he's also taught me-
He does a keyword analysis. If you're keywords are very popular keywords, like "blogs" or "music" then chance are you're not going to appear on the first page because of the sheer volume of sites who are also competing for those keywords. Creating a keyword strategy is part of SEO.

Mon, October 23, 2006 - 5:33 AMyou want Search Engine Optimization
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEO
That will be a good place to start... remember, with Google especially, "to not try to game the system." They will punish you, HARD if they catch you cheating for rankings... -

Re: how to get google to display your website on the first page when searched?
Mon, November 13, 2006 - 8:17 PMWell i guess its not so bad we are on page 2 for our main keyword search but the boss always wants the best. Its all do to over 500 sites linking to us! We do have a few google ads but I think those do not work really. I think google just takes your money and then pushes you upa few spots on the page. I think buying ads on a specific site will generate higher clicks.

Re: how to get google to display your website on the first page when searched?
Fri, January 25, 2008 - 9:21 AMhi
did you manage to boost up your google ranking in the end?
My advice would be to correctly use the Header tags for a start and to use css layouts which will result in less text for google to trawl through and have to ignore.
